The dashboard center stack of the Kia Soul. The ! is the top-line trim for the US market, while the + is the midrange trim; the ! includes 6-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. UVO is Microsoft-designed interface and telematics system for Kia vehicles, and is related to Ford's SYNC. Aside from UVO, the Soul is well known for its gadgetry anyway. Toward the lower end, the AUX-USB jacks are visible, in the standard Hyundai-Kia configuration that also allows the use of the Hyundai-Kia proprietary Apple iPod cable. Call me old-fashioned, but I like a car to be built in its manufacturer's home country, using as much of that country's domestic content as possible; that usually results in best possible quality control. On that front, the Soul is a strong winner, using 94% Korean content, among the highest percentage of domestic content I could see on any model at this show. US/Canadian content is 3% and probably includes the Microsoft UVO. (By contrast, even all-American cars like the Ford Mustang may have only 55% American content and use Chinese transmissions!)
